TREATY 6:19 Make this treaty with your heart - to anger don’t
give rise STORY BEHIND THE SONG: It is very hard work to hold a grudge. Much easier to just get out there and dig in the dirt, and in a thoughtful, focused way productively release anger and let it go, thus freeing our hearts for more joyful and productive endeavors. However, anger’s blessing can only be realized when we use it’s truth and it’s lessons for blessings instead of cursings. May this song comfort the hearts of those who are honest about their anger, for anger is a proper emotion in many, many instances but dealing with it appropriately gives patience the time and wisdom to think over the emotional response and sometimes even and a workable, peaceful and life honoring way to correct a wrong. A spade is in the shape of a heart – perhaps this is indeed what it was designed for? Also interesting to note that from a satellite view, the sacred Black Hills is in the shape of a human heart. Perhaps also it is time to honor treaties with more than words - but with TRUE heart....

Growing Old
(4:15)

Things that were fast are slow, as I watch each each step I go,
I was feeling high but now I’m low – Now I’m growing old.
Always thought the friends I had would always be right here
Now the truth is clear – Now I’m growing old.
Children grown and
moved away, grandchildren run and play
While I'm left to live each day - Now I'm growing old.
World has left me behind, too fast to watch the signs,
And I'm feeling too weak to change their mind - Now I'm growing old
Wonder if they'll ever love the things I leave behind
I hope that Love's still blind - Now I'm growing old.
Yet each day of living is more beautiful, than all the words I could
ever know,
And thinking of all those many precious times of loving,
has filled my heart with the warmest glow.
It's too late to complain, guess I'll take the sunshine and the rain,
And love the laughter and the pain - Now I'm growing old.
And yet, in it's blindness and uncaring - the world still has more
beauty than I can sing!
And looking forward to more lovely times of loving,
Has made me realize that
love is everything!
LOVE is every thing!
So now I'll not complain, I'll just take the sunshine and the rain,
And love the laughter and the pain - Now I'm growing old.
"What the caterpillar calls
the END of the world - the Master calls the butterfly!"
Richard Bach from his book "Illusions"
Growing old is a good
thing for it beats the alternative! However beyond that thought
lies the fact that with age often comes the priceless beauty of wisdom,
and transformations, fear-inspiring as they are.
This IS the joy and miracle
of the entire process of life!

Once I was lonely, now I am happy, Once I was crying, But now I laugh
and I thought surely my life was over, until I finally let go the past.
It wasn't really as hard as I thought, it wasn't nearly so long a path,
Instead of trudging, I just started skipping, and then I really, let go the past.
And now, and now, I find myself beside you,
and Now, and Now - ( the FIRST day of my life! )
I see, I see, a rainbow all around me,
and that joy that surrounds me, I call my Liberty!
No longer wondering, no longer waiting, no longer praying to see the light,
It shines before me, and washes o'r me, I found the sunrise beyond the long night.
No longer mourning, no longer sighing, no longer wanting to be elsewhere,
No longer hiding, nor justifying, now with heart vision, see my way clear!
And now, and now, I find myself beside you,
and Now, and Now - ( the FIRST day of my life! )
I see, I see, a rainbow all around me,
and that joy that surrounds me, I live in Liberty!
I LIVE in Liberty!

. Blind at Three Forks (3:47)
You
said you'd call me, you haven't - I wait and I wonder and I cry
You told me our love is beginning - but I'm standing here feeling it
die
You kissed me, but not with feeling - you smiled, but just from your
face
My doubt about your sincerity is a haunting your words can't erase
It's like Standing, blind, at three forks - not seeing past the bend
in the road
Standing, blind, at three forks - not sure of the way I should go.
Excuses mark your conversation, as your eyes wander all 'round the room
You laugh at the doubt I'm expressing - and your cheer seems to add
to my gloom
My questions are met with derision - my truth is far different than
yours
And as you work hard to explain it - I feel myself edge for the door.
Standing, blind, at three forks - not seeing past the bend in the road
Standing, blind, at three forks - not sure of the way I should go.
Worried and un-holy, Stuck in the past, Goals reached too slowly,
Life moves too fast.
Too busy, too tired, Too rushed, too mired, In stuff, in routine -
Stop for a dream!
Search for the cause. Remember to breathe. Remember to pause.
Give way to peace.
Unclutter your life. It's ok to cry. Let go. Release. Simplify - SIMPLIFY!
No, I've never been much good at directions - writing them is such an
ordeal
Then reading while driving is a problem - with my white knuckles turning
the wheel.
No, I can't stand at three forks forever - can't keep my life always
on hold
Got to choose for myself a direction - and get moving on back down the
road.
Not, Standing, blind, at three forks - not seeing past the bend in the
road
Standing, blind, at three forks - not sure of the way I should go.
STORY BEHIND THE SONG: This song was written while I stopped to buy gas at Three Forks Country Store between Hill City, Keystone and the junction that turns also North to Deadwood and Lead, my present home. It's a song about situations and relationships that are confusing (with an unknown "hidden agenda") and seem to be going nowhere - and that are probably better left behind! This song marks the BEGINNING of my music dreams - all I needed to do was take that first step down the right path!!!
A great gift from the Black Hills!

No more beautiful moons may we spend on our land
There''ll be a trail of
tears, There''ll be a trail of pain Jackson wants the
Mississippi and his twenty dollar bill, No more songs
of the hunters on the buffalo trails There''ll be a trail of tears, There''ll be a trail of pain Jackson will have the Mississippi and his twenty dollar bill, but how long will the trail of tear remain. On the
streets of Rapid City, on the road to Wounded Knee There is still a trail of tears, There is still a trail of pain Jackson has the Mississippi and his twenty dollar bill, but how long will the trail of tear remain?

Bunny chose to color her song to show consistency and beauty in the rainbow colors of seasons, awareness of the circular flow of changes in life that all seem to come in Fours and directly relate to fingers for the finger “dance” action used in presenting this song as a memory and decision tool to use our hands (activities) wisely in relation to the circle of life teachings wise Grandmothers in indigenous Americas used to teach their Grandchildren about the circle and sacredness of life:
In this song the hand is used as the circle of life teaching tool
Index finger =North 2nd finger=East 3rd finger=South little finger=West
Purple represents the CENTER of the circle, challenges, higher truths, and/or encouragements for spiritual reflection, without which there cannot be wholeness, and the THUMBS UP which denotes GOOD ACTION (one cannot pick up or do much without a thumb) therefore the thumb, purple, reflects a higher power, God, Spirit, Creator, and intervention of the unknown but overseeing greater and beyond us
Green represents positive “self talk” reminders to help us manifest, give energy towards creating a successful human life.
Blue represents negative things that don’t open our hands for goodness.
Black and White copies of this original song have been distributed during Bunny Sings Wolf workshops.
It is suggested that each person trace their own hand in the middle of a page and color each directional word and phrase process for themselves as a way of thinking about natural organic realities, the gifts we have been given with our own ability to have a hand in our lives, and to remind of the responsibility we share to live in harmony with the natural world for the goodness, abundance, health, freedom and prosperity of ourselves and the whole cosmos of which we are a part. No More Chains, to bind around my heart again,
No More Chains, to clang around my life
No More Chains
No More Chains
No More Chains to lock and close a padlock to
No More Chains to give my worry to
No More Chains
No More Chains
Let ‘em rob me blind – I’ll still have peace of mind
Let ‘em strip me bare – I’ll be smiling everywhere
Let ‘em take it all – I’ll still have all my love to send
Cause I won’t live again
In chains.
No More Chains to make me feel secure again
No More Chains, they’re really not my friends
No More Chains
No More Chains
There aught to be a verse here ‘bout pickup trucks and prison
‘Bout the sins of education, religion and national pride.
But they don’t hold a candle, to the illusions I bound myself to
While pretending I was free – I was chained inside.
Now I’ll run – with nothing to drag behind
Now I’ll fly – with nothing to hold me down
Now I’ll sing – without that clanging harmony
There won’t be any part of me
In chains
There won’t be any part of me
In chains. There won’t be any part of me in chains.

12. Paha
Sapa Polusa
(2:38)
Words and Music by Bunny Sings Wolf © 2001 Hillbunny
Productions ASCAP
STORY BEHIND THE SONG: Paha Sapa is Lakota (Sioux) word for Black Hills. Polusa is a word added to the end by a would be rock concert promoter who requested Bunny write a song for her scheduled performance at his concert by that name. The July 2000 concert was cancelled due to lack of good planning, but Bunny's song, inspired by a quiet drive through the "ghost" town of "Moon", reflects the words and music just as she "heard" it in the forest that day, complete with David Allen's Lakota vocables recorded in harmony on the first cut of the last verse...
Riding
through the hills on a sunny day and stopped to hear a song along the
way
Heard Music in the water, music in the skies, music in the wind that
passes as I ride
They sang PA HA SA PA PO LU SAH
Dance under blue skies sing under stars
PA HA SA PA PO LU SAH
Listen for the truth then sing it out LOUD. Sing it out loud.
I wondered why man works so hard to bury deep, a truth these hills so
clearly speak
How long vanity, ego, power and greed will be left to leave this earth
to bleed
And I sang PA HA SA PA PO LU SAH
Dance under blue skies sing under stars
PA HA SA PA PO LU SAH
Listen for the truth then sing it out LOUD. Sing it out loud.
And the answer speaks yet in the wind, about a day soon to begin
When the highest power will right all wrongs, and the painful ways of
mankind are gone
Then forever we'll sing PA HA SA PA PO LU SAH
Dance under blue skies sing under stars
PA HA SA PA PO LU SAH Then we'll know the truth and sing it out LOUD.
FOREVER Sing it out loud.

Most of Bunny's ORIGINAL SONGS (upward of 420 at last count) have "arrived" usually at 3:00 a.m., in the form of dreams since Bunny has been living at home in the Black Hills. Waking her from deep sleep - playing in her head - complete with words and music, she records them, to learn and share later. In honoring this unique music gift, Bunny feels a solemn responsibility to the Creator to use her voice and carry these songs to as many people as possible. Lyrics of some of these songs, yet unreleased on CD, may be found on Unreleased Lyrics page.
