WELCOME NEW SUBSCRIBERS and all who have
read and shared my
news and musings at each full moon this past year!
I am happy and grateful you are in
this life with all of us who continue to grow, anticipate,
embrace and become aware of the many blessings of one another in this FULL MOON in a NEW YEAR so pregnant
with healing transformations here on Mother Earth!
Changing the Newsletter format just a little bit this year,
to share things I find myself growing with as these
dream-received songs continue to work their "magic" upon my heart.
Though I am content and happy to stay home and enjoy the
peace of my life here, out of commitment to my gift of
songs and the dreams that came with them, I
continue to look for every opportunity to send my voice
out into a greater listening audience in these meaningful sounds
and thoughts for
this time.
It is my fervent prayer for this year that
many more hearts may have and find new ways, new ears,
and the renewed heart that will be necessary to really
listen and act appropriately to what is being
communicated from the organic world for this time and
are contained in these soulful notes sent me from the
Black Hills; and that we may we each continue to
AWAKEN to new ways of BE-ing while preserving and
honoring our own special gifts and those bestowed
upon all of us here on Mother Earth so that life may
be lived well, yes, celebrated in all it's fullness, and
that future
generations may LIVE!
What's
in this Name?
Of course, there is the obvious inference to the story of
"The Boy Who Cried Wolf!"
(remember, the "WOLF" DID
eventually come - showing that it is wise to continually
sound the warning, and pay attention, for it's all an
issue of timing, right?). Bunny (my
birth name) continues to sing my dream-sent music
full of earth and life-nurturing teachings (like a well
traveled Wolf) as well as a number of songs by the late Kate Wolf,
that I hope, this year, I will be
able to honor in a long anticipated 2 CD "tribute album"
when I am able to manifest or be gifted the required funding.
However, the true underlying meaning of this "Bunny Sings Wolf" name
- descriptively - pictorially - symbolically
represents the day soon ahead when
whether predator and prey - ALL are once again
recognized as viable and necessary - a
life-honoring WAY that may be called successfully waging the "war of valued life" * on this planet.
In every way possible, like a lone Wolf at the edge of
"civilization" I find myself pointing in songs, pointing ahead to this time, when, as Creator
has intricately, wisely and beautifully designed all
life forms and the many rich and diverse habitats, ways
of consciousness, and means of "making a living" that
each
creature harmoniously must regain in order to thrive and
balance with all other lives within the whole; that all may once again walk in dignity and
freedom and with mutual respect.
May we
soon see the day when each of us arrives at this place
of harmony and balance; each within their own place as a
unique and precious strand in the fabric of the web
within this JOYOUS song of LIFE! Just as a Bunny's
song is joined within it's full circle relationship
within the Wolf - my name reminds me of my prayer
pointing toward a time when each recognizes
response-ability to the whole - recognizing again we
are ONE within the sacred hoop. As this paradigm
takes hold to erase the fears and prejudices that have
ruled society for too long, the hoop will mend into this new consciousness and
way of life
this consciousness represents.
These are some of the reminders I
respectfully carry in my "funny" name, gifted to me
in the Lakota way, that speaks of the dream, the vision, the hope,
the prophecy of a positive future on our richly
be-jeweled planet that is now attempting to return to
it's original, pristine beauty...
So, when you read or hear my name announced before a
concert, or on future media interviews scheduled for
2006, or to announce the playing
of my song on the radio, remember to keep the faith, keep the vision,
walk in a sacred manner on your life path, and add your positive energy to
it, for this IS the process that will MAKE IT SO for
you, and for all our relations!
Please also know
this Bunny Sings Wolf does appreciate and send back around to you again, with heartfelt
thanks, your precious love - and thanks for hearing that
which I send - a most
sacred gift for these times - a voice!
May we Walk in a WAVE of Gratitude
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and
more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos
to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn
a meal into a feast, a house into a home,
a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes
sense of our past, brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow."
Melody Beattie Go
Gratitude!

From
A White Haired Lady...
"As we make those subtle and unconscious shifts, we loose
our neediness and self-consciousness. We radiate
tenderness in every direction, and become the whole
circle, all 360 degrees of love. We are entering an
immense consciousness of love, one larger than we may have
imagined. We begin to understand the force of
loving-kindness as the Buddhists
explain it and in the majestic power behind Jesus'
assertion that God is love. When we create, learn,
share, or move in love , we enter the power, which is the
force behind the flower that shatters the stone, a
catalyst for the faith required to move mountains, even if
we have to do it a teacupful at a time, or as the agent
for a hope so dogged , so persistent, so pragmatic Abba
himself must give way.
Our love grows big and
sturdy and ridiculously indiscriminating. So much of
what we once thought momentous now seems silly and
pretentious; now we cling to the only thing there is -
loving well and not all that wisely.
And that changes everything.
That energy can be felt even when there is significant
distance, even when no words are spoken. Enough so
that children reach out to touch us. Enough so that
our men lose the loneliness in their eyes. Enough so that
potbellied pigs... sensing the opportunity for a snuggle,
can find us.
Even when hundreds of people surround us.
Even when the odds would be against it...
What I have, feel and do will change, depending on
the weather outside,
and the storms within.
What I am on any given day is enough.
All I have is time and all I do is
initiation, maintenance, closure,
as liquid an endeavor as there ever was.
depending on the weather outside,
Hearts can go sour
dreams can go bad,
minds can play the fool
but problems resolve and so do people.
Wishes more often than not, come true.
Bodies and minds heal.
We learn as we go and we are more often than not
any worse for doing it that way.
At rock bottom
there is always Love
and there is always Tomorrow.
So, it's enough to be fluid,
to live fully moment by moment,
to be present and accounted for,
to think clearly and act quickly,
to trust what is.
Because life is a path,
and we are only graceful
when we move."

Eagle Heart Flying has asked of Bunny
"What Color is Spirit?"
My songs have taught me much from a
creative perspective, and much about my HEART also.
I hope they work that way for you too!
Of course hearts seem to break when we crack them open
with new feelings to learn new ways of
tenderness and honesty with ourselves and others - and
these lessons always teach much about feeling foolish,
child-like again, but taken full circle, remind us of our rich blessings,
for Spirit uses EVERY experience to bless us if we do
not fear her lessons!
Such is the way of the heart, if we only be courageous
enough to listen - rich with lessons about
LIFE and LOVE - things that always matter.
However, these recent lessons for me all began with the
above question, which seems simple enough, yet I have
learned that no-one can teach us these things - we
can only "count coupe" on truth when we have real
life experiences to discover these
"colors" for
ourselves. If this is a path you
would like to take, sit down and write what is on
your heart in reply to Eagle Heart Flying's question, and feel free to share it with someone
close to you -
swap your ideas about this. It
may change your life! My recent email discussions with
this flying heart, has forever changed mine!
Eagle
Heart Flying wrote: What Color is the Spirit?
What culture is the spirit? Can we not look beyond
our beginnings, our nation, race, skin color?
When
these questions are answered then two or more become
one.
Bunny wrote
(within the parenthesis are the thoughts
Eagle Heart Flying added in a 2nd email, showing the beginnings of the full flavor of our brief
but ever so special meeting of hearts across the world
wide web):
The
color of the Spirit is the color of the morning sun
(yellow--upward),
rising
up, sparkling from the East (enlightenments will always
come out of the East - I come to you from
the East-South {white, peace, happiness}) with (Red, success,
triumph),
enlightenment
(green, in the center)
the color of love
(maybe the rainbow)
surrounded with gratitude
( green- the center, balance)
that expresses it's
colors creatively (as only the Creator can),
in ways of
beauty, in good
action and re-actions as we walk upon Mother Earth, the
color of living breath (pure white, peace, happiness),
that sends our most sacred, our voice, in songs and
prayers
of healing and wholeness to vibrate with colors of
deep resounding peacefulness,
blending the multiple colors (rainbow-unity ) ( bundle of
arrows apposed to only one) of
life force, shining their energies within the great
circle,
that bless and nurture all,
and all the colors that paint, and bless and walk
in dignity, honor, respect, wisdom
in the undeniable know-ledge
all truth seekers will soon reclaim,
during this time of great transformation (peace on & in
Mother Earth)
the color,
the under-STAND-ing that
we are
all
one. (As the Great Creator is One, we are only One in Him/Her)
When we take our right-full place in the center
then this color becomes the practice
of human BE-ings. (
8 is the number of new beginnings)
Thank you Eagle Heart Flying for
sharing yourself within these many good words you have
gifted me, and may our meeting now touch and bless many
other flying hearts who hear our energies and voices
joined to bless all our relations.

Bunny's Dream Time:
From a dream song I
awoke to, two years ago while on the Wind
River Reservation, this has been VERY heavy on my
heart. This full moon I now feel "brave" enough to
share this question with you:
What will happen the morning we arrive to the
surprising day when all Safeway and WalMart stores will have locked
their doors and the signs - Out of Business - greet shoppers?
What will our world look like then? Impossible,
like the tsunami? Buffalo
Nations and the life-ways associated with harmonious
organic ways of all four-leggeds may soon become very
valuable once again. Alternative plans - set in
motion now!
"Dance! Buffalo! Dance!"
Followup: I told this dream to Arapahoe Elders back
then, and just got news this week, after much pestering
from me, they finally have three buffalo to start their
herd on a path, I hope, that quickly leads to some self-sustenance
and a great cottage industry to provide food for the
people and a vocation for their idle young people to involve
themselves with - something good to "do" with youthful
energies!

In the music of the
Moons of 2006 for
those precious and good Hearts - who have once again
re-learned to hear with the "right" brain in a "left
brain" world gone mad...
The Moon hung full over the
hills. Unhurried by the day's first light she revealed her
fullness. I went outside to sit in contemplation of
her, and we faced each other in utter equanimity: She who
had pulled the tides of my inner sea for 450-some months,
powerfully, capriciously, violently, now had relaxed her
hold on me and left my waters calm as a lagoon after a
tropical storm. Emptied, I sat there in the
twig-brushing breeze and savored the quiet aliveness that
had come to me at last.

Every time
you speak negatively about someone you cut off the
creative forces around you and create an imbalance within
your system... We must carefully check ourselves every day
to prevent from becoming trapped in this "coffin," by
continuing to walk upon the path of gratitude. If a person
continuously expresses negativity through his words,
thoughts and deeds; if a person slanders others, if one is
always jealous of other people's talents, beauty,
successes; if a person harbours hatred toward those who
have injured him and is critical, the aura weakens and
loses its magnetism. You will not be successful in your
life. However, as you sincerely expresses gratitude to
others, a change of consciousness occurs, increasing your
sensitivity so you can see beauty, acknowledge beauty, and
respond in beauty... Your beauty manifests only by you
being mindful of the beauty in others.

The following to-the-point perspectives come from a
beautiful book of photographs and (yes, still very
controversial) contemporary views from many well known

"There are
people who go to bed hungry and there are people who could
potentially freeze to death in the winters - in fact there
are those who do freeze to death in the remote areas.
The history of the treatment of Native Americans in the
intercontinental US is one of disgrace and is one that the
American people have a real problem getting to grips with
Indians try to escape that reality and the conditions
they're forced to live in and for many the only route they
find that can make that happen is alcohol. And while
that's temporary and it's more devastating than it is
helpful, it does give them a few hours per day of escaping
the reality that they are forced to endure. it's
incredible to me that there are Indian people who do not
know why it is that they find relief and solace in the
bottle and they do it almost as if there were no tomorrow
or they couldn't care less about today - and that speaks
of the condition they're in. Everything from
cultural emasculation, to being regarded as useless
parents, to being any other thing you could conceive that
is compared to the middle-class American white picket
fence, two-cars in the garage and comfortable home
lifestyle that they would never achieve. It goes
right to self-esteem. It goes to self-worth.
It goes right into why we have the largest suicide rate of
any other race. All of those factors are attributed
directly to the social conditions in which we live...
There's
been much made of the Freedom of Religion Act but in my
experience people practiced their spirituality regardless.
If a person believes in traditional ways they don't have
to do it publicly. Certainly the days when the
cavalry rode in and shot and killed people for practicing
their beliefs are gone. things have changed in that
we have become sophisticated enough to tell the Christian
missionaries to get ... out of Indian Country [by their
practices] ...we don't believe what they're saying. So things
have changed by evolution and familiarity and reality
itself has changed and Freedom of Religion really has had
no impact on anyone other than those who are imprisoned
and are still prohibited from practicing various forms of
Nation religion. I always say that if you really
believe in the way of the Creator you don't have to have a
church, you don't have to have a ceremony - you can talk
to Him right here and right now...
I fought for
the US in Vietnam which is a paradox, but I can tell you
that if today the United States started a war someplace
I'd tell them to go to hell! I wouldn't go. I have
to say that the propaganda at the time was very
compelling. It had Native people believe that we
were being invaded by communists - though we had no real
understanding of what communism was - and we believed we
were protecting the freedom and right that we've always
had as Indian people within Indian Country, which is one
of the reasons why I went. I believed that until I
went to Vietnam and our "Kit Carson's Scout', a captured
North Vietnamese regular who turned into our scout, asked
me, 'Chief, what are you doing here in Vietnam anyway?
You know they took your country and now they're over here
raising hell with us.' I was appalled by his question and
really angry with it until he said, 'Look around here.
Where do you se a national government? Where do you see a
local government? Where do you see a presence of any
government?" And it was then that I began to ask questions
and look at the reality and in retrospect I see that the
American young men, the 100,000 who died in Vietnam, died
because of economic aggression. They died because
the powers that be in this country killed them. They
are the ones that sent them into battle, exploiting their
youth and their fortitude, the naivete, their masculinity,
and every virtue that young men of eighteen, nineteen,
twenty, twenty-one years of age have - including their
patriotism and their love for their country. They
exploited that for economic reasons. I fully
understand that and I still respect veterans who are not
part of that - who were used and exploited and who thought
they were doing an honorable thing. I also respect
those young men who had the fortitude to say no and went
to Canada. They were probably braver than we were -
we who went and took lives and had our lives taken and
threatened. I think we are a nation of Indian people
who now fully understand the enemy. We now fully
understand the nature of capitalism and its dangers.
We fully understand colonialism and what it seeks to do in
those underdeveloped countries that don't know any better.
So we're better prepared today than we've ever been in
terms of repelling propaganda. Propaganda is no
longer an effective mode of brain washing - because we've
been there." Buddy Apesanahkwat Chevalier who served Eight terms as a
